Seagrass Recover "Solutions for saving our oceans, estuaries and shorelines"

At Seagrass Recovery, we have a vast assortment of tools on hand to effectively restore damaged beds.

The success of our innovative techniques have been scientifically evaluated and documented by National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. What’s more, because many of our solutions incorporate patented technologies and one-of-a-kind functionalities, Seagrass Recovery is the only place that can offer such a multitude of unique options.

Using these methods, and others still under development, Seagrass Recovery is able to re-establish, create and enhance the growth of one of the most productive natural communities in the world.

Seagrass Recovery is proud to offer these solutions to refurbish damaged beds:

The Sediment Tube restores seagrass beds damaged by propeller scars and boat groundings by depositing a biodegradable growing medium. The Sediment Transport Vessel (STV), has been expertly designed to place sediment into a trench or blowout area while minimizing the turbidity of the water. This device can deploy 1/2 yard of sediment every four minutes. It is also able to transport four to six yards of sediment per trip and can travel in up to two feet of water, fully loaded.

Seagrass Recovery is proud to offer these transplanting solutions:

The GigaUnit Transplant System (GUTS), features a machine that can transplant 20 square-foot sections of seagrass from a dredged area to another needy location.

The JEB, also known as Jim’s Environmental Boat, is a planting vessel used for placing bare root, or pre-rooted planting units, in shallow water to support seagrass growth. The JEB can plant a unit every 2.5 seconds – or an acre i

The Aquatic Fertigator is a mobile vessel used to inject shallow seagrass and damaged beds with a natural formula that stimulates new growth. nit every 2.5

Seagrass Recovery is proud to offer a unique approach to planting:

The Seagrass Nursery serves as a ready source of planting stock. We can harvest our own planting stock with no permit. The JEB has also been specially adapted for these seagrass containers to allow for mechanical planting.

Sediment Tube® Technology
  • Patented Technology
  • Made of Cotton that is biodegradable within 12 months
  • Used to stabilize areas where damage has occurred and then planting is done straight into the mostly degraded Sediment Tube®
  • Can be used in a variety of scenarios – Prop Scars, Meadow Creation and transplanting where proper growing conditions are not present.

Prop Scar/Blow Hole:
Prop Scar / Blowhole Visible Sediment Tubes placed in damaged areas. Planting units inserted into Sediment Tubes(3 months later) Seagrass fully restored 12-18 months after start.
GIGA Unit® Technology
  • Patented Technology
  • Main function is moving Seagrass Ecosystems in 20 sq foot sections
  • Allows for transplanting of Seagrass ecosystems, not just the seagrass
  • Used to transplant ecosystems to new areas, and allows for the ecosystem to be returned to its original location should the restoration plan call for this
  • Can be used in a variety of scenarios – Large Scale Impacts and Meadow Creation
  • Peer Reviewed and published as NOAA’s recommended science to re-grow Seagrasses – Success Rates have been published to support a 165x rate of growth
